The Parliament of Andalucía officially recognised the important work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) during its 63 years of operation in the occupied Palestinian territory, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.

For the second year, the Spanish foundation Intervida has donated 200,000 euros in support of Palestine refugees in the Gaza Strip through UNRWA. In 2011, some 70 per cent of refugees in the Gaza Strip relied on UNRWA aid, a figure seven times higher than before 2002.
For the third year running, the Spanish regional government of Aragón has donated EUR 40,000 to UNRWA’s school feeding programme, which provides a daily menu for up to 221,000 schoolchildren in the Gaza Strip.
The Spanish Committee of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWAce) has been awarded a top prize at the VI International Festival of Social Advertising – Publifestival – for its interactive “Count Me In” online campaign to raise awareness about Palestine refugee children in Gaza.
