It has come to the attention of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) that late on 1 March 2013, two Palestinian men were hanged in public on Palestine Street in Yarmouk, a suburb in the south of Damascus city.

On the afternoon of 25 February, Basem al-Hindi, a 14 year-old Palestine refugee living in Syria, sustained serious shrapnel wounds to his head when a suspected mortar round exploded on a public road in Damascus. A few hours later, Basem died of his wounds.
