The Embassy of Japan and UNRWA launched on Wednesday 4 August a new maternal and child health handbook which will be distributed free-of-charge to Palestine refugees across Lebanon who are pregnant or have young children.

Today UNRWA launched the Mother and Child Health (MCH) handbook at al-Jalil health centre in Yarmouk. The project, funded by the Japanese government at the cost of US$37,500, aims to improve the maternal and child health of Palestinian refugees in Syria.

Spirits were high as a group of Palestinian schoolchildren stormed onto the field on 26 and 27 March for the annual UNRWA-JICA Football Cup. Eight teams gathered at Damascus’ al-Faiha stadium, seven from UNRWA schools across Syria and one from the French School in Damascus.

As the sun burned off the early morning chill, young Palestine refugees from five different cities entered the field at the Fihaa Stadium in Damascus. They have been training all year for this tournament and were united behind one cause: love and affection for football.
