The Israeli practice of demolitions of homes, basic infrastructure and sources of livelihoods continues to devastate Palestinian families and communities in East Jerusalem and the 60 per cent of the West Bank controlled by Israel, known as Area C. Many of the people affected already live in poverty, and demolitions are a leading cause of their ongoing displacement and dispossession in the West Bank.


300 kites fly in the skies of Al Walaja

Today, UNRWA’s psycho-social community project culminated in an epic kite-flying event held in the village of Al Walaja. As part of the event, students from local UNRWA schools flew 300 kites and filled the sky above the village – which is threaten by the construction of the West Bank Barrier – with colour.


Worrying increase in home demolitions

The latest numbers from the United Nations show a two-fold increase in the number of Palestinian homes and agricultural buildings destroyed by Israel this year, causing concern among officials.
