Vulnerable Palestinian refugees who have sought refuge in Syria from violence in Iraq will be able – as of today – to withdraw their monthly allowances under UNRWA’s cash assistance programme from automated teller machines (ATMs) under a new Agency initiative in its Syria field.


Young disabled refugees lead the way at winter camp

Mustafa Abu Khurj, from Jenin refugee camp, was injured during the first Intifada, and is now in a wheelchair. His disability, as well as Israeli access restrictions in the West Bank, makes travel difficult. An event organised by UNRWA this winter gave Mustafa a rare chance to travel and meet new people.


Turkey Helps Bring Mobility to Disabled Palestinian Refugees in Syria

Thanks to a donation worth more than US$ 25,000, 100 Palestinian refugee families and disabled refugees will today receive prosthetic equipment and financial assistance for home modifications.

Community organisations help deliver food to poorest during Ramadan

This Ramadan, UNRWA has been able to provide hot meals and fresh meat to the most vulnerable Palestine refugees in Gaza and the West Bank, thanks to its partnerships with community-based organisations and a number of generous donations.

UNRWA Opens US-Funded Community Centre in Yarmouk

A new community development centre was opened today in Yarmouk by Mr Charles F. Hunter, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Syria. The centre was built thanks to a generous donation of USD 1,397,400 from the US government.
