The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) publishes a range of reports and statistics detailing the Agency’s work and the situation of the Palestine refugees it serves.

Focus note: Youth outreach in UNRWA’s 2010 microfinance portfolio

A short focus note on the outreach to youth achieved through the microfinance programme in 2010. While this document was prepared at the request of an Arab donor, it is part of the social performance management (SPM) framework and social indicators developed by the programme.

Contrary to media reports of a flourishing West Bank economy, evidence from the second half of 2010 shows deteriorating labour market conditions, with falling employment growth, accelerating unemployment and lower real wages.

West Bank job creation programme

The job creation programme is part of UNRWA’s emergency programme, to mitigate the negative socio-economic impacts of the occupation. JCP provides short-term employment opportunities through its cash-for-work project and other initiatives for the most vulnerable Palestine refugees in the West Bank.
