The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, iKhalifa Bin Zayed Foundation food distribution 1 n cooperation with UNRWA, this week continued its 'Feed the Fasting’ Ramadan project in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The initiative runs throughout the holy month, distributing fresh meat to approximately 10,000 poor families in the West Bank, and providing over 100,000 people in both the West Bank and Gaza with iftar dinners (the traditional meal at which Muslims break the daily fast during Ramadan). The fourth and final round of meat distribution will be completed today, in cooperation with several community-based organisations inside the camps.

Three iftar dinners were held yesterday in the West Bank refugee camps of Kalandia, Askar and Camp No. 1 (Al Ain). Joining in the proceedings at Askar, director of UNRWA operations in the West Bank Felipe Sanchez, expressed his gratitude to the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for its continued generous support of poor Palestine families. Other attendees emphasised the need for more assistance, in the face of the difficult socio-economic situation of Palestine refugees in the West Bank.

In Gaza, the project continued in collaboration with several local organisations in areas throughout the Strip. In total, 32,000 hot, nutritious meals, each enough for three people, will be distributed to families in Gaza.

Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation food distribution 2 Peter Ford,  representative of UNRWA's Commissioner-General, said:  “The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has confirmed once again its true commitment to support Palestine refugees and assist them during these hard times - especially in the West Bank and Gaza."

“We reiterate our thanks to the Foundation, and look forward to future cooperation in the benefit of Palestine refugees in the region.”
