UNRWA has become aware of unauthorized activities taking place in the Basic School for Boys No. 2 in Shufat camp today Wednesday 2 November, to mark the release of the Palestinian prisoners.

UNRWA expresses its concern over this event, and voices its protest since these activities run counter to the inviolability of United Nations premises and violate its principles of neutrality and impartiality.

In view of UNRWA’s concern over the safety of students enrolled in its school, it has been decided to release them by noon today as a preemptive measure against any unexpected incident.

UNRWA would like to clarify that it received no official request to use its premises nor did it give its permission to do so. UNRWA is doing its utmost to ensure that such an incident is avoided in the future, so that it serves the Palestine refugees in the most effective and appropriate manner.
