Abdul Aziz

Abdul Aziz Mahmoud Hamouiyeh, 39, a teacher at Haifa school, Mazzeh in Damascus, was killed in al-Qa’a in al-Midan Damascus on 31 July. He was struck by a bullet while he made his way on foot to worship at his local mosque. Abdul Aziz joined UNRWA as a school teacher in 2006 and was known throughout his six years in the education programme for his outstanding performance and competence. He enjoyed his work and was greatly respected by his colleagues. He was above all a committed and inspiring teacher.

Abdul Aziz is survived by his wife Rana, his father, and his three children: Mahmoud, Moua’yad, and Mohammad Taha.
