UNRWA’s publications cover many different areas, from socio-economic reports to appeals, newsletters, strategy documents and UN resolutions. This archive, dating back to 2000, contains useful information for researchers, partners and members of the public.

This is Aida camp, near the West Bank town of Bethlehem. Established in 1950 by refugees from the Jerusalem and Hebron areas, Aida today hosts over 4,700 people. The camp has not grown along with the refugee population, and is severely overcrowded.

This man is ombudsman for all the displaced refugees living adjacent to Nahr el-Bared. He lives in temporary housing constructed by the government of Japan, with solar panels donated by Germany. He says he remembers them “every time he takes a shower”.

The government of Germany is currently also funding the continued operation of the North Vocational Training Centre catering to young men, mainly from Nahr el-Bared camp.

Inside the pre-fabricated boys’ school in the area adjacent to Nahr el-Bared camp. This school was erected thanks to a donation by the government of Japan.

Most displaced refugees settled into temporary housing in the areas adjacent to the camp. This girl is playing on the playground of UNRWA’s temporary, pre-fabricated Nahr el-Bared school, which was donated in March 2008 by the government of Germany.

UNRWA’s emergency job creation programme helps poor refugee families cope with an ongoing crisis in the West Bank. The programme is sponsored by the European Commission’s humanitarian aid department, among other donors.

A Bedouin father and daughter in Wadi El Maleh, West Bank. Bedouin communities are particularly affected by closures and movement restrictions. With EU support, UNRWA’s job creation programme built the village’s first kindergarten.
