As a multitude of colourful kites filled the Gaza sky, it was obvious that the children were relishing their achievements.

More than 3,700 kites were flown at the beach near Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza as part of UNRWA’s Summer Games Programme.

On 30 July 2009 Gaza’s children smashed the Guinness Book of World Record title for the number of kites flying simultaneously in the same place.
