The United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Authority (UAERC) in cooperation with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Syria has donated food aid and SYP 312,000 in cash to UNRWA for distribution to needy Palestine refugee families in Damascus. The generous donation will target the poorest Palestine refugees including orphans and widows.

Lisa Gilliam, Acting Director of UNRWA Affairs in Syria expressed her appreciation for the contribution. She said, "Such generous assistance from the UAERC is deeply appreciated. It reflects the spirit of Ramadan: charity, good deeds and helping others. It is another sign of the United Arab Emirates’ solidarity with Palestine refugees".

Seventy-eight families will receive SYP 4000 each and food baskets will be distributed to 600 special hardship case families. Each package includes: essential food stuffs, such as rice, sugar, sunflower oil, butter, packed cheese, macaroni, and noodles.
