Media invitation to witness a world record attempt for kite flying

30 July 2009

Gaza

This week thousands of children in Gaza will make an attempt to break the world record for the number of kites flying in the same place at the same time. The event will take place on Thursday 30 July at 3 pm on the beach West of Beit Lahiya, north of the Al Waha Centre. This initiative is part of UNRWA’s Summer Games programme providing fun, games and some remedial education for about a quarter of a million children in Gaza. The current world record is just over 700 kites. UNRWA hopes to have thousands flying. Come and report on this astonishing picture story.

For further information please contact UNRWA Spokesman, Chris Gunness on 0542 402 659.
