Thanks to a new health-eating initiative, thousands of students visiting a school canteen in Shu’fat refugee camp, East Jerusalem, are now treated daily to a nutritious, delicious menu that both improves performance in class, and the likelihood of future health.
The Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Filippo Grandi, visited a cash distribution center in Beirut, where he met with Palestine refugees displaced from Syria. The refugees spoke to the Commissioner-General about their sufferings and needs and he explained to them UNRWA’s efforts to assist them better.
Late last year, UNRWA launched a thalassemia and sickle-cell anaemia testing and awareness campaign at Burj Shemali camp in Lebanon. An unexpected result of the screenings was the unusually high number of participants with irregular or high blood sugar levels.
