#shareyourwarmth

As millions around the world prepare for the holiday season, Palestine refugees are bracing themselves for the oncoming winter amid armed conflict, destroyed homes and ongoing uncertainty. Help us provide the most vulnerable among them – particularly those who had to flee or lost their homes as a result of conflict in Syria and Gaza – with the support they need to endure the harsh conditions this winter. Your support will help them stay warm and demonstrate your solidarity with Palestine refugee communities, who continue to demonstrate extraordinary resilience and generosity in spite of the difficult challenges they face.

This winter, #shareyourwarmth with Palestine refugees.

As millions around the world prepare for the holiday season, Palestine refugees are bracing themselves for the oncoming winter amid armed conflict, destroyed homes and ongoing uncertainty. Thousands remain without adequate shelter in Gaza as reconstruction drags on after last summer’s hostilities, while the blockade continues to cripple the local economy. More than half of the Palestine refugees in Syria are displaced within the country, while countless others flee to neighbouring countries or risk the perilous journey across the Mediterranean to escape the protracted conflict, now in its fifth year. House demolitions and high levels of poverty have left many families in the West Bank homeless, while many Palestine refugees in Jordan and Lebanon live in squalid conditions in overcrowded camps.

Yet this past year, there have been countless examples of Palestine refugees who, despite having lost so much, continue to help others in need – whether it’s the teacher living in conflict-ridden Syria who works late to ensure students do not fall behind, the family in Gaza who provides shelter to those who have lost their homes or the humanitarian worker who delivers vital services on the front line. UNRWA supports these heroic efforts every day by providing Palestine refugees with quality education, health care, shelter rehabilitation, humanitarian assistance and emergency response. But we cannot do this alone.

Help us provide vulnerable Palestine refugees – particularly those who have had to flee or who have lost their homes as a result of conflict in Syria and Gaza – with the support they need to endure the harsh conditions this winter. Our goal is to raise US$ 2 million between 1 December 2015 and 1 February 2016 to help refugees repair their shelters and buy warm meals, blankets, mattresses, hot plates and other vital items to prepare for the winter season. Your support will help them stay warm and demonstrate your solidarity with Palestine refugee communities who continue to demonstrate extraordinary resilience and generosity in spite of the difficult challenges they face.

How will you #shareyourwarmth?

Whether it’s the mother who knits a blanket for her children or the neighbour who opens their door to those without shelter, Palestine refugees in Syria, Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan and Lebanon continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience and generosity within their communities as they prepare for the harshness of winter. But they cannot do it alone. This winter, help them ensure that no one is left out in the cold and watch your support embrace an entire community.
