Braving cold winds, rain, and the occasional muscle cramp, close to 2,000 runners – from children to professional athletes – participated in the Gaza Marathon, a fundraiser for Palestine refugee children in the Gaza Strip.

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said that, at ten minutes past midnight last night, ten men attacked and vandalised its Summer Games site in north-west Gaza. The Secretary-General shares the Agency’s views on the attack and he wishes the children the best as they seek to break the kite-flying record today.

Thirteen thousand children taking part in UNRWA’s Gaza Summer Games crowned a golden season of three Guinness World Records by smashing a fourth yesterday, for the largest number of people flying kites simultaneously.

At ten minutes past midnight last night, ten men attacked and vandalised the Summer Games facility in north-west Gaza where later today UNRWA will attempt a world record for the largest number of children flying kites.

More than 5,000 children attending UNRWA Summer Games in the Gaza Strip have created the largest-ever handprint painting. At a stadium in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, some 1,500 children gathered to unveil the canvas that covered 5,922.2 square metres, smashing the previous Guinness World Record.

The children of Gaza today set their second Guinness World Record in as many weeks, for the largest number of footballs dribbled simultaneously. 2,011 children gathered in Kherbit El-Addas, Rafah, to attempt the record breaker.
