UNRWA West Bank and PalTel launched two workshops in mobile phone maintenance and information technology (IT) at the Kalandia Training Centre today, an activity that falls in line with the comprehensive tertiary education reform implemented by UNRWA in the West Bank “towards a confident and self-reliant youth”.

The Millennium Development Goals are eight goals to be achieved by 2015 that respond to the world's main development challenges. UNRWA’s commitment to the goals guides all the Agency’s services.


UNRWA Students Make a Stand Against Poverty


19 October 2009
This year 485,023 UNRWA school children in the West Bank, Gaza, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, stood up simultaneously and shouted "No to poverty" in protest of their own poverty and the poverty of others throughout the world.


Social safety-net programme

The relief and social services social safety-net programme is the only programme that caters to the needs of the most vulnerable Palestine refugees by delivering food aid and cash subsidies on a regular basis.


The life-cycle approach

UNRWA uses the life cycle approach in its health services, helping refugees at every stage of their lives, from preconception to active ageing.


Education

UNRWA operates one of the largest school systems in the Middle East, with nearly 700 schools, and has been the main provider of primary education to Palestine refugees for sixty years.


Health

UNRWA delivers basic health services and is responsible for providing a healthy living environment for Palestine refugees.
