Department of Planning (Amman)

Headed by the Director of Planning (DP), provides strategic and operational planning, monitoring and reporting across the Agency’s three funding streams (programme budget, emergency appeals and projects), including the coordination of the strategic planning process, the development of annual operational plans and emergency appeals, and associated reporting to external stakeholders (hosts, donors, UN HQ); provides quality assurance to the development of lower-level strategies (including programmatic, resource mobilization, human resources and information management strategies) and policies to ensure alignment with the Medium-Term Strategy; develops and maintains systems and procedures to capture results against performance indicators for all departments, divisions and fields; emergency planning and management procedures, including the development of contingency and business continuity plans; the institutionalization of risk management systems; partnerships with non-private entities, including UN organizations; and project management systems within the Agency; serves as the UNRWA focal point on UN system reform, as relating to programming and strategic planning; and as the Secretariat of the Project Review Committee, Project Assessment Committee, Advisory Committee on Resource Allocation and the Research Review Board.
