The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Advisory Commission conducted a field visit to Jordan Field on 19 November 2014 for AdCom Members.

During the visit, the AdCom members received a briefing by Mr. Roger Davies, Director of UNRWA Operations in Jordan, at Area Office in Amman New Camp, followed by a briefing by the Chief Area Officer in Amman New Camp and a briefing by the Director General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs on social and environmental challenges caused by overcrowding, and improvement plans, and the participants had a walking Tour in Amman New Camp.

Then the AdCom Members departed for to UNRWA Nazzal School in southern Amman, where they received a briefing by the Chief Field Education Programme on the issues of rented schools, UNRWA’s response plans, expected outcomes in relation to the Medium Term Strategy, cost efficiency and education reform. 

After that the AdCom Members headed to UNRWA’s Amman Training Centre (ATC), where they discussed with the Chief of TVET Programme, Dr. Oroba Labadi, the challenges facing the youth, the unemployment situation in Jordan and the high relevance of the TVET programme in alleviating the poverty of vulnerable segments of the refugee community in Jordan with a focus on the Ex-Gazan youth and women.
