The town of Quart de Poblet (Valencia) hosted on 1 February an Arts and Music Festival with the aim of raising funds in support of the population of Gaza. The event “València amb Gaza” was organised by the Palestinian Community in Valencia and UNRWA´s Spanish Committee. Children and adults alike enjoyed the magic of storytelling, dance performances, and above all, plenty of music in the sports ground of Saint Onofre Primary School.

A wide range of institutions, organisations, intellectuals and artists turned up to show their solidarity and support. Moreover, the event was an opportunity for UNRWA´s Spanish Committee to raise awareness of the current campaign to rebuild the education system in Gaza. Funds from the appeal will help children from Gaza and their families to rebuild their lives that have been shattered by the Israeli offensive.

Though the focus of the fundraiser was serious the participants had a lot of fun. Perico Sanbeat, Sedajazz Big Band, Soul Atac, Soledad Giménez or Svaters with Miquel Gil were some of the bands that kept the crowds on their feet and dancing all through the day.

The event was a great success with more than 2,000 people in attendance. So far the Spanish Committee’s Gaza appeal has raised over EUR 15,000.
