The UN Secretary-General receives a briefing on UNRWA environmental zero impact school in Gaza. Built for the same price as a traditional school, the standalone building relies on renewable and free locally available resources (rainwater, solar and ground energy) instead of waterworks and energy grids. Once completed, the school will provide an education for 1500 children in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza. The project is implemented in partnership with Mario Cucinella Architects (MCA) and with the financial support of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development through the Islamic Development Bank. "UNRWA is transforming the landscape of Gaza," said Mr. Ban.
