UNRWA goes to the Cannes Film Festival

01 May 2009

UNRWA does not make a habit of being at glamorous international art events, however this year, for the first time, UNRWA will be at the Cannes Film Festival - on the red carpet in cinematic form.

This annual event showcases the brightest and the best of cinematic talent and is a "must see" occasion for the movers and shakers of the movie world. UNRWA will be premiering a new short film by Yoni Goodman - the award-winning animator of Oscar-nominated, ‘Waltz with Bashir‘ and his chief animator, Tal Gadon.

The film, made using Yoni‘s signature animation style, shows a small child (a Palestine refugee) inflating a ballon which escapes and floats over UNRWA‘s five fields of operations - swooping down to show UNRWA‘s work in health and education.

The film will be shown on giant screens around Cannes thanks to the support of the company ‘SpotVision‘ together with the Hoping Foundation and UNRWA‘s Spanish Committee.
