EU Summer Fun Days in UNRWA schools across the West Bank
Summer Fun Days launched in 36 UNRWA schools across the West Bank on 9 June. Around 2,000 young people took part, thanks to generous funding from the European Union. This year’s Summer Fun Days marked the fifth consecutive year that UNRWA, with support from the European Union, has organized summer activities for Palestine refugee students.
In addition to the regular fun activities, the camps gave children the opportunity to expand their knowledge of European culture and heritage. Offering EU-themed extracurricular activities during the summer, with a focus on children’s psychosocial needs, is an important step in raising awareness of the strong role the EU plays in supporting the Palestinian people on the one hand, and in promoting a violence-free UNRWA school environment on the other hand. The summer camps form part of UNRWA efforts to improve education standards throughout its schools in the West Bank, while simultaneously giving young Palestinian refugees a chance to enjoy the summer break.
