EuropeAid Provides Life-saving Support to Palestine Refugees in Syria

EuropeAid support to Palestine refugees affected by the war in Syria has proved invaluable. EuropeAid provides UNRWA with the funds necessary to run life-saving public services for the 540,000 Palestine refugees registered with the Agency in Syria.
Ongoing violence since March 2011 has compounded the vulnerability of Palestine refugees, an estimated 27 per cent of whom were living in poverty prior to the conflict. EuropeAid funding contributes to four UNRWA programmes in Syria: cash assistance for the poorest refugees, medicine for UNRWA pharmacies, prosthetic devices for the disability programme, and text books and school supplies for UNRWA students.
