EuropeAid supports the most vulnerable in Syria
17 October 2014
Syria is in crisis and its population is suffering on a daily basis. Over 90 per cent of Palestine refugees in Syria rely on UNRWA for basic food assistance.
Fighting poverty is at the core of the Millennium Development Goals and generous funding from EuropeAid has allowed UNRWA to maintain urgently-needed services for the 540,000 Palestine refugees registered in Syria, including some 60,000 who have fled to neighbouring countries.
Continuous EuropeAid support has proved essential in maintaining direct cash assistance to the most vulnerable refugees in Syria, as well as education, healthcare, relief and social services.
