Living in war-ravaged Syria

As it approaches another anniversary, the war in Syria continues to devastate the lives of the more than half a million Palestine refugees. Violence, displacement and instability have rendered almost all of these already vulnerable civilians - who may have lost homes and businesses, schooling or health care or work, to say nothing of loved ones - in need of emergency support. 

In Amman on 23 January 2014, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) organized a briefing on recent developments in the ongoing conflict and their impact on Palestine refugees. The Agency also discussed its Syria Regional Crisis Response Plan, published in December, which outlines the ways in which the Agency plans to help Palestine refugees weather this crisis. Assistance includes tangible items like mattresses and cash, as well as the continuation of vital services like education and health care that help refugees not just survive the crisis, but also plan for a better future afterwards.
