Providing Palestine refugee students in Jordan with the tools they need to succeed
A quality education is crucial for children to develop important skills, expand their knowledge and have hope for the future. In Jordan, there are currently more than 118,000 Palestine refugee students attending 172 UNRWA schools. Unfortunately, with chronic poverty widespread among some Palestine refugee families in Jordan, many of these students must overcome challenging barriers as they pursue their studies.
Within this context, ensuring that students have the right tools in the classroom becomes all the more important. This fall, the Chalhoub Group generously donated 1,500 back-to-school kits – school bags filled with stationery – for Palestine refugee school children in Jordan whose families fall under the UNRWA social safety net programme. These kits will help give even the poorest Palestine refugee students an equal footing so that they can fully exercise their right to a quality education.
