Refugees, 65 years later

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled their homes in the aftermath of the 1948 war. The majority were displaced and ended up outside of their ancestral land, in camps around the region. Many still live in refugee camps in Jordan, Lebanon, the occupied Palestinian territory, and Syria.
These photos are part of UNRWA’s photo archive of about half-a-million still and moving images. The collection is included in UNESCO’s “Memory of the World” archive of outstanding value.
