UNRWA celebrates EU Day 2015 in Ramallah

UNRWA celebrated its dynamic partnership with the European Union at EU Day in Ramallah, Palestine, on 7 May. The European Union is the largest multilateral provider of international assistance to Palestine refugees, providing crucial and reliable support to UNRWA since 1971. Speaking at the event, the head of the EU Representative, John Gatt-Rutter, said the EU has an extremely strong partnership with UNRWA. “UNRWA is a factor of stability in this tumultuous region, but it also does an excellent job providing services,” Mr. Gatt-Rutter said. “It provides excellent services in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria especially in Yarmouk refugee camp. This is a very strong aspect of the partnership.”

During the EU Day celebrations, visitors to the UNRWA stand were encouraged to join in the #JustSolution campaign and call for a just solution for Palestine refugees. The day was inaugurated by Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Rami al Hamdallah and Mr. Gatt-Rutter, who both joined the #JustSolution campaign by signing their names and posing for a joint photo.
