UNRWA celebrates long-standing partnership with European Union at Europe Day in Ramallah
On 9 May, UNRWA celebrated its decades-long partnership with the European Union at the annual Europe Day fair in Ramallah, Palestine. The European Union is the largest multilateral provider of international assistance to Palestine refugees. Since 1971, the European Union has provided crucial and reliable support to the Agency’s programmes and services, including education, health care and emergency response. The partnership between the EU and UNRWA has allowed millions of Palestine refugees to be better educated, live healthier lives, access employment opportunities and improve their living conditions, thus contributing to the development of the entire region.
This year’s event brought more than 30 of the European Union’s partner organizations in Palestine, including UNRWA, as well as representatives from several EU member state missions, and was inaugurated by Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Rami Hamdallah and EU Representative Ralph Tarraf. Hundreds of students, families and other members of the local community attended to partake in the festivities, which featured dance performances, recreational activities, and a broad range of culinary specialties and local artisan products.
