Photos emerging from inside Yarmouk depict a situation of utter deprivation and suffering. Civilians continue to face a daily struggle to survive in the besieged area. Without humanitarian access, the most basic needs of up to 18,000 Palestinian and Syrian civilians, including 3,500 children, continue to be left unmet. While UNRWA has been able to provide assistance to civilians recently displaced from Yarmouk in the adjacent areas of Tadamoun, Yalda, Babila, and Beit Saham, the Agency demands safe and uninterrupted access to provide full humanitarian assistance to the civilians who remain trapped in Yarmouk.
