In June 2020, the Government of Japan contributed over US$ 1.5 million to support efforts by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic across its five fields of operations in Gaza, West Bank including East Jerusalem, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
