Aida camp on the outskirts of Bethlehem

10 June 2016

Aida Palestine refugee camp sits on the outskirts of Bethlehem. 5,500 refugees live here in crammed conditions, isolated from the Jerusalem area by two large settlements and the West Bank Barrier. Among all the Palestine refugee camps in the West bank and East Jerusalem, Aida is the most affected by violence and incursions. Psychosocial counselors in the two UNRWA schools, inside and nearby the camp, work continuously to alleviate the stress and trauma experienced by the schoolchildren. UNRWA partner organizations in the camp provide activities that offer recreation and mental relief for the youth.
