Road to Baqa'a

29 May 2017

George Nehmeh was an UNRWA photographer and filmmaker from 1960 to 1996. He has captured some of the most iconic moments from the history of Palestine refugees, particularly during the 1967 hostilities and in the years that followed. In 2013, George visited camps in Jordan, the West Bank and Gaza to reconnect with the people he had photographed. Watch as he reunites with two families living in Baqaa camp – Mariam Ajjoury and her husband, Suleiman, and Rubhi Abdel Hafez Naf’a and his mother, Umm-Rubhi – whom he photographed shortly after they had fled across the River Jordan in 1967.
