#UNRWAWorks: UNRWA Staff Describes Conditions at Deir al-Balah Emergency Shelter

"We do what we can, despite the lack of resources". Kamal al-Helou, an UNRWA staff member describes the dire conditions and work challenges at the UNRWA Deir al-Balah Emergency Shelter in southern Gaza. As of 4 November, over half a million internally displaced persons are sheltering in 92 facilities in the Middle, Khan Younis and Rafah areas. In spite of having lost relatives, friends, and neighbours and being themselves displaced with their families, UNRWA staff continue to work tirelessly to provide humanitarian assistance.  To date, 79 colleagues have been killed since 7 October.
