In September 2016, UNRWA and UNIQLO signed a partnership agreement to improve the quality of life for more than 450,000 Palestine refugees in Lebanon by providing 42,000 pieces of winter clothing to the most vulnerable refugee children and their families.
The Japanese clothing firm uses the power of clothing to enrich people’s lives and benefit society. Through the All-Product Recycling Initiative, UNIQLO and its holding company Fast Retailing has collected over 32 million items since 2001 to benefit people in need.
UNIQLO’s global clothing expertise matches the Agency’s efforts to help Palestine refugees meet their basic needs. For some Palestine refugee families with low incomes, acquiring new winter clothes may be inaccessible or would mean forfeiting other basic needs. The partnership with UNIQLO has an important impact in enabling Palestine refugees to live with dignity under increasingly difficult circumstances.
