Since 1971, the European Union and UNRWA have worked hand in hand to support the human development of Palestine refugees, which in turn has contributed to safeguarding stability in the Middle East and the hope for peace.
UNRWA adopted the Human Resources Gender Parity Plan geared towards the implementation of UNRWA Gender Equality Strategy and the Secretary-General’s system-wide strategy on gender parity. The goal is to reach parity at the level of senior leadership by the end of 2021.
UNRWA has been granted funding for phase II of the Building Safety Programme as part of the Safe from the Start Initiative. This second phase will consolidate and build on UNRWA commitment to the Call to Action on the Protection of Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies.
The main objective of this Participatory Gender Audit was to assist UNRWA Department of Relief and Social Services in Lebanon Field Office in self-evaluating the progress made with regard to gender equality within its sub-programmes, and to develop improved strategies.
