In 2016, the conflict in Syria continued with intensity and unpredictability, resulting in further loss of civilian life and material destruction. Palestine refugees continue to be among those worst affected by the conflict.

In 2017, UNRWA requires US$ 411 million for its humanitarian response to the Syria crisis, covering the needs of Palestine refugees who remain in Syria and of those who fled to Lebanon and Jordan.
