This report offers a comprehensive overview of the strategies, initiatives and activities comprising UNRWA s response to the health needs of Palestine refugees in the course of 2009. The health programme functions primarily through a network of 137 clinics located across the region, both inside and outside refugee camps. It is guided by the Millennium Development Goals, by the policies and standards of the World Health Organization, and by three strategic goals, namely, to ensure universal access of refugees to quality, comprehensive primary health care, to protect and promote family health, and to prevent and control diseases.
