UNRWA responds to humanitarian crisis in Dera’a:

Following military operations and a series of local agreements, the Government of Syria now controls all of Dera’a and Quneitra governorates. For over five weeks since 17 June, intensified hostilities in south-west Syria have had a devastating effect on civilians and civilian infrastructure. UNRWA estimates that around 25,000 to 28,000 Palestine refugees are located in southern Syria, mainly in Dera’a city, Muzeirib and Jilin; almost 75% of whom were affected by the conflict or displaced from their homes. UNRWA has responded by distributing ready-to-eat food baskets, hygiene kits and NFIs to displaced Palestine refugee families from southern Syria who approached UNRWA at its offices in Dera’a, Damascus, Homs, Hama and Latakia. As of 31 July, 806 eligible families have been registered as newly displaced, of whom 528 families (2,323 individuals) have received assistance.
