Escalation of hostilities in Dera’a

Sustained hostilities in south-west Syria since 17 June have led to the displacement of thousands of civilians including Palestine refugees, reported death of civilians, and the destruction of homes and public infrastructure. UNRWA is observing with great concern the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the area. The Agency estimates that between 25,000-28,000 Palestine refugees are currently located in areas affected by the armed conflict, including Dera’a city, Muzeirib and Jillin. UNRWA has remained unable to restock the Muzeirib health centre in Dera’a with essential medicines since 2014, while access to Jillin and Dera’a camp also remain restricted.
